Academically, Chad has his Juris Doctorate from EXPERIENCE: Chad McGuire has been a practicing attorney since 2000. He is licensed to practice law in the State and Federal Courts of California, Nevada, and Massachusetts. Chad is a civil litigator, with an emphasis on all areas of torts. He mainly assists the Law Offices of Mark C. Blane in complex civil litigation. Chad works closely with founding partner, Mark C. Blane, a longtime friend and associate. He has varied experience in the areas of civil litigation, representing injured parties, workers, as well as defending the rights of individuals and Labor Unions. Selective List of Representative Experience and Federal LMRDA (Union Defense): Imsande-Sexton v. CWA Local 9509, et al., 05CV0272, Federal District Court, Southern District of California (2006). Successfully defended LMRDA Title I claim against International, District 9, and Local CWA union, including 23 named individual defendants brought by past-president of Local. Engaged in over thirteen sessions of deposition of Plaintiff, as well as attending over thirty sessions of defense depositions. Obtained a grant of FRCP Rule 12 motion to dismiss on unenumerated grounds (statutory prohibition to subject matter jurisdiction) after twenty months of discovery. Worked with co-defense counsel to achieve outcome. Class Action/Product Defect: Eagle v. Mercedes Benz, 03CV018, Federal District Court, Southern District of California (2003). Researched and co-drafted class action complaint. Drafted successful opposition of motion to dismiss. Aided in developing arguments, including points and authorities, to support motion for class certification. Pharmaceutical Litigation: Capps-Connor v. American Home Products, et al., Federal District Court, Central District of California (2000). Drafted complaint, made court appearances, negotiated mediation, drafted mediation brief, made oral argument at mediation against Stuart Gordon, Gordon & Rees, and secured settlement of case.
